The Evolution of Alec’s TJ: Part 2
If you have a modified vehicle, you will inevitably be asked what you’ve done to it. For some this can be an exhaustive list depending on just how far into the details you are willing to go.
In house projects that are hopefully making progress. (Probably not)

The story of the evolution of my Jeep is long and unfinished. Like most it started with a small project and then slowly spun out of control. This article will discuss what led me to purchase my TJ, as well as the timeline and decisions behind major upgrades.
So this is it, the first round of upgrades to the new Wrangler. I always try to test the very best and latest offerings for the off-road community. With that in mind here is what is going on the JL.
Six years ago I was fortunate enough to purchase a brand new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. I bought almost exactly what I wanted. Firecracker Red, manual transmission, soft top, and because the price was right I also opted for the Hard Rock package. That package came with leather, steel bumpers front and rear, a vented hood,…
Around the 4WAAM offices, we are very fortunate. We have a wealth of experience, plenty of tools and industry partners to lean on when things go wrong.
This past weekend we were working on one of the Jeeps in the fleet. Nothing major just swapping control arms for some new ones to showcase adjustable arms with maintenance free bushings. That’s not the point today. Swapping control arms is a 16 bolt process, that’s it 16 bolts. We had access to the shoplift,…
Lifted vehicles are a constant balance of on road versus off road performance, ride quality, and handling. The higher you go the more a compromise this can be. The choices you make and the budget you have dictate how bad the compromise is. There is a diagram that I love to use in life. It…
A lot has changed since we began reviewing the OMEJK4 suspension system. New tires, new wheels, new suspension, winch installed, and new exhaust just to round out the changes. Life is a constant change, and reviews can’t be done without actually testing the equipment.
As we were sitting around planning stories the other day we realized we no more free time on our hands. It was also at that exact moment we decided that another project made perfect sense.Quick name one of the least expensive Jeep’s available: if you said the XJ Cherokee you were right. Produced from 1984…
It was a pretty fortunate week for us here at 4 Wheels. We spent an all nighter Sunday into Monday, and almost Tuesday, to finish up our new suspension and then ran the shakedown 5 hours to Bantam Jeep Festival in Butler PA. The trip was worth it to witness a bit of history.
Maximus-3 is a small company out of Detroit Michigan. That’s right there are people who are still making quality products in Detroit. So don’t let what the media feeds you about the city being dead fool you, the city isn’t dead and with folks like these making quality components it never will be.
Old Man Emu (OME) is known the world over for the ride quality and handling of their shocks, springs, and suspension kits. We previously wrote about installing the OMEJK4 kit on Project Overland that you can read here.
Like the title says we are installing the ARB USA Old Man Emu 4 inch lift. It is an all in one kit designed to take your stock JK and lift it over 2 inches with just exhaust spacers needed for maximum articulation.
Big tires plus tail gate mounting equals rattles, bangs, and bent hinges. Well, not anymore thanks to TeraFlex and the HD Hinged Tire Carrier.
Kumho tires began in South Korea over 50 years ago and are now the 9th largest tire supplier in the World. Pretty impressive considering all of the manufacturers out there on the tire market.
