I dig station wagons – all the usefulness of a van without the bulk and lack of aerodynamics to slow it down. Wagons can also be wicked fast.
The latest super estate is the Audi RS6 Avant with a twin-turbo 4.0 liter V8 and Audi’s all-wheeldrive system. Talk about vicious acceleration.
It’s coming to America!
Just look at that profile! Under the hood, the Avant is packing a 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 with 590 lb-ft of torque and a 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds. That makes the Avant faster to 60 than a Cadillac CTS-V and the new BMW M4. It also sounds incredibly sexy. Check out the video below.
It’s incredibly useful and comfortable.
Sports cars are awesome. Their ability to carry luggage is not so impressive. That’s what makes the RS6 Avant so perfect. You get all of the speed, handling, acceleration, and you can carry things like groceries, camping gear, whatever you want!
The interior will feature Audi’s latest MMI system with virtual cockpit containing a distinctive RS display. The display will provide information on tire pressure, torque, power output, engine oil temperature, boost pressure, lap times, acceleration measurements, and g forces.
The want is real.
If I am honest with myself, the price point for the RS6 Avant is going to be more money than I am willing to pay for a car. It will probably be three times more than I paid for my first house. The house had a garage that the Avant can park in. None of this prevents me from wanting one. What’s your take? Would you own the new Avant, or are you a no station wagon kind of driver?
Seriously though, did you listen to that exhaust?
