The technique employed for crawling a hill climb is very simple and straightforward:

For us here at 4WAAM we are big proponents of always being in 4LO when we off road. It puts less stress on the vehicles drivetrain, in particular the clutch and transmission. Is it ideal for every scenario? No, if you are pre running across the desert it is definitely not ideal, for just about everything else the torque multiplication is worth pulling that lever all the way to the rear.
