We don’t do How To videos too often, especially ones this simple in nature. This was some video that we shot several months ago and it worked out to be a great little winch recovery video.

The situation we staged was a disabled vehicle stuck against an outcropping of wet rocks. With slick moss covered rocks under the tires and not much grip to yank it out, a winch recovery was the best option.

The key to this recovery is proper setup, taking our time, and making sure to keep a safe distance from the recovery point. In this case, our TJ was used as an anchor point. We utilized our Factor 55 thimble and a soft shackle.
