Usually, when I cover the Great American Outdoor Show I do a wrap post highlighting multiple products from different companies. This year I was so impressed with Kodiak Canvas and the unique features they had on several products that I am doing a companion piece to our overall show wrap.

Kodiak Canvas – ZTop
Visual heat loss between traditional and ZTop sleeping bag.

I cannot sleep in a mummy bag. I am not a back sleeper and I always feel constricted and claustrophobic trying to use one. Which makes getting a warm sleeping bag that fits and is comfortable difficult.

Enter ZTop. In the most basic form, it is a traditional sleeping bag with excellent fill and a comfortable quilted liner good to 0º. The key feature is a blanket like topper that your head pokes through. This lets you sleep in any position while your shoulders and below stay completely covered.

There is also an accessory booster quilt to give another 30 degrees of warmth. (Sold separately.) Speaking of sold separately the quilt retails for $79.99 and the sleeping bag starts at $219.99 for the regular length. Check out Kodiak Canvas for more on the ZTop.

Kodiak Canvas Swag

What is a “Swag”? Swags are a style of heavy-duty shelter aimed at the individual car camper. They often have built-in mattresses or even cots, and they don’t have much internal storage or vestibule space. Popularized in Australia and now available in the US the Swag tent is a very durable piece of kit.

“It’s made with premium-grade, Hydra-Shield™, 100% cotton duck canvas. The tight weave and silicone finish make the canvas watertight yet breathable, minimizing condensation and mugginess. Unlike canvas tents of years past, our canvas will not wick water. Watertight and breathable, means you stay more comfortable. Aluminum alloy poles provide a sturdy structure. The floor is a heavy-duty, puncture resistant, 16 oz vinyl that keeps water out. Unzip screened windows in the head and foot for air flow. These windows have small awnings over them so they can be opened even when it’s raining. When weather permits, roll the top cover back, and it’s like sleeping under the stars. The screen mesh keeps the bugs and critters out. Included is a 2-inch thick, open-cell, polyurethane foam mattress pad. The pad has a removable flannel cover that can be washed. When it’s time to move, the Swag packs up in no time—mattress pad, sleeping bag (sold separately), blankets and all. Everything is neatly rolled and ready for the next stop. When adventure calls, grab your swag and go.” (Courtesy Kodiak Canvas)

Priced at $259.99 you get a canvas tent with a mattress that’s waterproof, durable, and convenient. Head over to Kodiak Canvas to get yours.
