How To – Winch Recovery

We don’t do How To videos too often, especially ones this simple in nature. This was some video that we shot several months ago and it worked out to be a great little winch recovery video.

The situation we staged was a disabled vehicle stuck against an outcropping of wet rocks. With slick moss covered rocks under the tires and not much grip to yank it out, a winch recovery was the best option.

The key to this recovery is proper setup, taking our time, and making sure to keep a safe distance from the recovery point. In this case, our TJ was used as an anchor point. We utilized our Factor 55 thimble and a soft shackle.

Check out the video below to see how we pulled it off.

We are big believers in simple is better around the 4WAAM offices. That’s why this article is short, sweet, and to the point.

Tell us how you have recovered your vehicle, was it a similar situation, something crazy, if you have pictures we would love to see them.
